Of all the prophecies Jesus fulfilled, one in particular should be analyzed, and studied closer because there is nothing like it. In the book of Daniel, God sends the Angel Gabriel (not the same Angel Gabriel that Mohammed claims, as this Angel Gabriel is not a slave of God, but a free will created being of God) to tell the prophet Daniel the exact date that Messiah would be announced to the world and when the death of the Messiah would happen.
THE EXACT YEAR JESUS WOULD BE ANNOUNCED TO ISRAEL.
This is the prophecy from Daniel Chapter 9:
“While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the LORD my God for his holy hill— 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision:
24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.
25 “Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” Daniel 9:20-27
To understand the magnificence of this prophecy and what is happening in the book of Daniel you have to do some mathematics.
So, let’s do some math. When the Old Testament Jewish records talk about a year, a year is equal to 360 days because it was calculated by lunar movement not solar. This can be confirmed in the book of Genesis:
150 days = 5 months, so one month = 30 days, confirmation of this value is also found in the book of Revelation:
“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues..
Revelation 11:1-3, 6
“And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:5
42 months = 3.5 years = 1260 days.
So, again months according to the Jewish calendar = 30 days.
Now, that we have established the units of time the Jewish record of prophecy uses, we can now read the first part of the prophecy from the book of Daniel Chapter 9:
“Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to ATONE for wickedness, to bring everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.”
This is what it looks like:
Seventy = 70 sabbatical cycles, so 70 x 7 = 490 years.
The first part of the prophecy has to do with the total fulfillment and second coming of Jesus Christ. The 490 years is broken into two, as we will see with second part of the prophecy.
The second part of the prophecy goes on to say when the countdown for this will begin and when the Messiah would come. It wouldn’t begin at that moment that the Angel Gabriel gave Daniel this prophecy in 538 BC. Instead, it would start when a certain decree was made. The decree was this,
“Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.”
TO REBUILD AND RESTORE JERUSALEM until the Anointed ONE would come.
When was the decree issued?
What year?
There were 4 similar decrees issued in a period of 100 years at this time:
1. 539 BC decree from Cyrus – Ezra 1:1-4
2. 519 BC decree from Darius – Ezra 5:3-7
3. 457 BC decree from Artaxerxes to Ezra – Ezra 7:11-16
4. 444 BC decree from Artaxerxes to Nehemiah – Nehemiah 2:1-8
When you study each decree, you can, without effort, see that the decree the Angel Gabriel and the Old Testament Bible prophesied about was given in 444 BC. We know this because of the state Jerusalem was in at the year 444 BC, and the record of Nehemiah’s sorrow for Jerusalem in that same year:
“In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before; 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”
I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?”
Then I prayed to the God of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
6 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.
7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king’s forest, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.” Nehemiah 2:1-8
This was the year 444 BC, according to our calendar – the solar calendar, and Nehemiah is full of sadness for Jerusalem because it lay “in ruins” and “its gates destroyed by fire.” He even asks King Artaxerxes directly if he could rebuild the city: “let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it.” If the city was already rebuilt, then there would be no need for Nehemiah to sorrow over and to ask the king to rebuild it.
This way we know the starting point of the prophecy of the announcement of the Messiah, and the death of the Messiah, was the year 444 BC. In our current world calendar.
*And even if we can’t choose the decree ourselves, we can rely on today’s system of math to find out which decree belongs in the prophecy.
The only decree that matches the mathematics of the announcement of the Messiah to Israel is 444 BC. In other words, you can take each decree and add 173,880 days or 476 solar years and since we know the date that Jesus died, then we can just try all four decrees to see which matches the date of His death. Only one matches exact = 444 BC.
“From the issuing of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, until the Anointed One comes, there would be seven ‘sevens’ and sixty two ‘sevens.” Daniel 9:25
7 sabbatical cycles = 7 years, so 7 years x 7 = 49 years
62 sevens/sabbatical cycles = 62 years, so 62 x 7 = 434 years
49 years + 434 years = 483 years
69 sevens = 483 years
So, that is 483 Biblical years, where again one year = 360 days. Now, need to re-calculate the total amount of days, according to our solar calendar:
Step 1: 69 sevens x 7 = 483 years
Step 2: 483 years x 360 days = 173,880 TOTAL DAYS until the Messiah would come
To figure out how many years that would be according to the solar calendar we need to take the TOTAL DAYS and divide them by how many days are in one solar year 365.25 days per a year:
173,880 / 365.25 = 476 solar years and 25 days
Now, the decree was given to Nehemiah in 444 BC, solar calendar, and 476 years from that year the Messiah would come:
-444 BC + 476 solar years = 32 AD
Remember that we are counting down on a linear line that doesn’t have a zero so from 1 BC to 1 AD there is only one year not two. Take that extra year and add to 32 = 33 AD.
33 AD/CE is the year that Jesus Christ was announced as the Messiah, the Anointed One, to the world, and went to the Cross to die.
To the very year, on Palm Sunday, Jesus presented Himself to Israel as Messiah…
PALM SUNDAY ANNOUNCEMENT #1: “When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:37-40
PALM SUNDAY ANNOUNCEMNT #2: “As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to the Daughter of Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
“The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:1-11
Jesus prophesied it Himself before it happened:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 35 Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’” Luke 13:34-35
It was Palm Sunday, March 30th, 33 AD, and the Messiah came riding on the road of the Mt. of Olives on a donkey. Jesus was not riding in a war chariot made of gold, but on a lowly donkey. Fulfilling, yet another prophecy from the book of Zechariah:
“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
Zechariah 9:9
And the people declared, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord.” It was the public declaration of the Messiah to Jerusalem and the world – the Messiah who was God and King.

So, let’s do some math. When the Old Testament Jewish records talk about a year, a year is equal to 360 days because it was calculated by lunar movement not solar. This can be confirmed in the book of Genesis:

- “And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.” Genesis 7:24
- “And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. 4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.” Genesis 8:3-4
150 days = 5 months, so one month = 30 days, confirmation of this value is also found in the book of Revelation:
